It's too hot!

Ugh- it's September...and that means the heat is on! Plans for a visit tomorrow to the Pomona Co fair were canceled as it's supposed to be 101'. That's too hot to be walking around in un-air conditioned quansit huts. So instead I had planned to crank up the A/C and do some serious house work. That is until I found Mary from No California and her blog. She has a 5 acre hobby farm loaded with emus, chickens, fainting goats, donkeys and a DH. All she is missing is a dog. How can a farm, or any home for that matter,  not have a dog!
Dog or no, I love her blog anyway. Great videos zoom in and out, pics of the farm and critters abound. Go check it out- but i warn you...you may not get your house keeping done!

Morning walks

It's unseasonably cool here for August. It's the noon hour and only 72'. Dont get me wrong- I am not pining for heat. Woke up this morning to fog laying low and a dog raring to go for a walk. I don't know how, but she knows my days off from work days. And when I am off- that means she gets a morning walk. By the time I get my shoes on, Darla has already clocked two miles racing around the house, up and down the hall, in and out the back door. I just can't get my shoes on fast enough for her! We went to the local park for a two mile walk. Some of the walk goes thru park grounds, and the other half is a trail thru oak trees, tall grass, Queen Ann's lace and wild shrubbery. In the cool morning the smell of sage is wonderful, and the birds and squirrels are busy. Once in a while we see deer or coyote- but not today.
Now back home, Darla is pooped out and it's time for her nap.

I want to blog too....I think

I love reading blogs and getting a daily peek of someone else's life. Blogs about gardening, pets (dogs in particular), chickens, travel adventures and the day to day activities of others. So, I got to thinking maybe I want to share some of my own tidbits. Yet I worry though if I will have enough to share- I hate those blogs who's title sounds so good and  yet when you visit there hasn't been a posting in months or even years.  I want to write witty antidotes like my friend Erika. And I am a terrible speller- so thank goodness for spell check!
So, I guess I will just jump in and give it a try. Wish me luck, and as Jimminy Cricket said "...and away we go!"
